Mumbai Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) | YOU SHALL BE HOLY

10th October, 2016
Taken from Daily Flash 1 Peter 1:16

(Scripture Reflection 1 Peter 1:16)

for it is written, “You shall be holybecause I am holy.”

We are called to be holy, as we are often reminded from the pulpit. But what is holiness? is it a vague concept or something to be done? the technical answer can be found in the Beatitudes  (Mt 5:3-12) but the true answer lies in my heart. To be holy I must follow God's commandments, succinctly summarized by Jesus: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart....(and) love your neighbour as yourself (Mt 22:37,39)

Do I love God? Do I love Him more than my family, my friend, my possessions, my social status? Am I ready to give these up for the sake of the Kingdom? it is by no meanseasy but Jesus says, "For mortals it is impossible, but not for God; for God all things are possible"
(Mk 10:27)

Our magnanimous God never leaves us without a reward: we shall receive a hudredfold in this life and eternal life in the next (Gospel)

This brings to my mind the story of a priest who as a youth, had to undergo much harassment and persecution. Every time God miraculously delivered him. This made him think: what am i doing for God? And it became his call: a call to priesthood and to holiness.

Fruit:   Holiness is not achieved overnigt, but one step at a time. At the begining of Lent tomorrow am I ready to take the first step?
