GO ANDE BEAR FRUIT.
(Scripture Reflection John 15:16)"You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you."
You and I have a special mission with enormous responsibilities. We have been chosen to bear long-lasting fruit (Focus). What is this mission? Jesus says, “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn 15:12). But is it possible to love those who hate us, persecute us, or are intolerant to what we do?
Very difficult, if not impossible! That is why we are told to abide in Jesus, for apart from him we can do nothing (Jn 15:5).
Jesus worked continuously and tirelessly among the people, but he always made time for solitary prayer to his Father (Mk 1:35).
His strength came from his Father.
We too can bear fruit – if we pray in the quiet of our hearts asking the Holy Spirit to bless our efforts, knowing perfectly well that we are not capable of doing anything worthwhile by ourselves.
So often we meet a troublesome situation that seems to defy solution. Alone it may indeed be impossible. But if we realise we are but instruments chosen by God (Focus), all we need is to say Yes and align with his will. With faith and trust in God the answers will come.
If at all we have doubts we can pray, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mk 9:24).
Fruit: Can we surrender to God – trusting him and saying Yes and pondering what we don’t understand like Mary?
