When the day of Pentecost came...all were filled with Holy Spirit......
27th March, 2016

Dear Friends,

We have just celebrated a very important feast in our Liturgical calendar, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, i.e. forty days of Lent culminating in the joyous feast of Easter. Most of us have definitely strived to grow in intimacy with the Lord during this period by our committed and prayerful observance of the Lenten practices. Shortly we will be celebrating the Pentecost Sunday i.e. May 15, 2016.

"When the day of Pentecost came......all were filled with Holy Spirit......" Acts 2 : 1-4
The Spirit comes to give life to the church. Though we have received the Holy Spirit at our confirmation yet we need to constantly stir up the Spirit within us to make us bold to proclaim the power of the risen Lord. The Holy Spirit gives  power in our weaknesses. We do not have the power within ourselves to live a Christian life. The Holy Spirit helps us in our struggle. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

And subsequently we see in Acts 4:33"With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus"
Today in some way or the other, each one of us have received the gift of the Holy Spirit from the LORD and all of us can testify about it. But Jesus did not come only for me ! He came that ALL will be saved. He died for ALL and He has invited/Called each one of us to share in this Divine plan that 'All must be saved'.

This is where you and I come in dear Sister and Brother - we remember the parting words of Jesus when He left us Mk 16:15-18 - 'Go Therefore Preach The Good News - Baptize, Heal, Cast Away Demons' . The time to act is NOW. Holy Mother the Church has announced the Year of Mercy and The Mumbai Service Team after a prayerful discernment felt that what better way to celebrate this theme than  to 'BE MERCIFUL - GIVE JESUS'. Hence this year  we would be more focused in the area of evangelization by firstly praying with a compassionate and a heart of love for the many ' perishing souls' so that they experience the mercy of God.

There is ample opportunity to give Jesus to those around us. We have been called with a purpose Jn 15:16. Let our energies not be wasted away. At the recently held All Bombay Core leaders meeting a number of bright ideas came  up from the leaders which have been circulated to all the prayer groups. Trust you will prayerfully go through the same and adopt some strategy to evangelize.

May the risen Lord bless you and your family abundantly? May each one of you be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit for the greater glory of God.
