Easter A Message Of Hope In This PANDEMIC
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Christ has Risen for us. Finally, the closed tomb opened up after three days and even death could not hold Him. To many, the resurrection of Jesus has been a mystery but to the eleven Apostles and to those whom Jesus appeared after His resurrection, it was a message of hope.
It’s been a year now and the world’s still reeling under the pandemic, the sudden deaths and poverty caused by the cruel virus doesn’t seem to end. In such a state of fear and distress, how can one celebrate the joy of Easter? I have been battling with this thought for the past few weeks.
One cannot deny that there is real suffering. But then I also don’t want to dwell on the negative because that helps no one! It is important for us to give this season its due because it is the apex season for the Faithful. Without Jesus’ death and resurrection, we have no chance of Eternal life with God.
There’s no doubt about it – this Easter season is special. It’s a time to remember Christ’s sacrificial love and joyfully celebrate the freedom of broken chains from Covid -19.
There’s something beautiful that happens to our soul when we meditate on the gift that God gave us in His Son. What would our lives look like if we kept hold of that feeling all year long?
As we are in this Easter season, I want to share four daily practical ways that we can intentionally celebrate and perpetuate the resurrection throughout the year.
1. Daily Bread (Read Your BIBLE): Matthew 4:4 reminds us how Jesus put the Devil to shame by saying "Man Does not live on Bread alone, but every WORD that comes from the mouth of God." Let’s remind ourselves daily by reading the BIBLE of the truth of the cross with a sense of awe and wonder, as if we’d never heard it before. Meditate on the victory that was won for us, the defeat of sin and shame, and the power of the Holy Spirit that’s now alive in us.
2. Daily Focus on The Resurrection: In Philippians 3:10, St. Paul says "All I want to know is Jesus and experience the power of His resurrection". We are called to know Jesus as we read the Bible and experience the power of resurrection by believing in it just as the disciples did; this is the FAITH of the CHURCH. The Resurrection means that a way has been made for us. We’re promised eternal life with God because our debt has been paid with the innocent blood of Jesus. Let us fix our eyes on the treasure that is forever ours: eternal life with our Creator.
3. Daily Celebrate Easter: The beautiful words of St. Pope John Paul II reminds me of the joy of celebrating Easter. He says, "Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song!" When we recall the wonder of the Resurrection, we’re called to rejoice! We can celebrate each day what the Lord has given us, by viewing it as a gift, knowing that our future is secure in Him because of His victory.
4. Daily Mission Proclaim: After His resurrection, Jesus gives the apostles a mission: "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to all creation." After the risen Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene at the tomb, she immediately ran into town to tell the apostles what she’d seen. We’re called to spread the news of Christ’s redeeming love and sacrifice to all – making “disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
"Easter is here, and so is new life and new hope".
Wishing all my sisters and brothers the joy of the Risen Lord. May you continue to bask in the blessings of the Easter season.
