The BST was reconstituted on June 25th 2016 after a time of prayer, voting and discernment under the guidance of the Episcopal advisor to the Mumbai CCR - Bishop Dominic Savio, the Spiritual Director - Fr. Roland Fialho, the outgoing Chairman of the NST - Fr. Jose Anchalikal and two elders. The prayerful gathering of the 130 approx. current and past leaders expressed their joy and satisfaction with the whole process of the election. It was not a surprise to see the entire BST being re-elected for the second term with an addition of two more members. I truly believe that John 15:16 is being fulfilled. However, there are many unfinished tasks and therefore in right earnest the newly elected team met for two days to pray and seek the will and plan of God for the next 3-year term. The numerous suggestions that were brought out in a survey conducted at the time of elections were very helpful.
The VISION and MISSION continues to be the same. I appeal to you Leaders, Core leaders and Members of every prayer group for your prayers, support and cooperation in accomplishing the task entrusted to us …”To renew the families of every parish that has a prayer group and to begin new prayer groups in parishes that do not have one”. Once again, reminding each one of you to be a part of the intercessory ministry - the back bone and the power house of our prayer groups. The feedback of all who attended the JEHR, (Jesus Encounter Healing Retreats) have been very good. We thank God for all retreats going full because many of the prayer groups are making efforts to send their members and parishioners for these retreats. You will see a renewal in your homes as you encourage your family members to attend the retreats Acts 16:31.
A top priority will be the formation of disciples in the ministries and also in developing strong and committed leadership of both youth and adults. A special leadership programme is being designed to accomplish this so that three years from now our prayer groups will be able to move ahead without lacking in leadership – both skills and personnel. Prayer groups will be assisted and trained in conducting the LSS seminars and discipleship programmes. There has been a need of better working of our core groups; however the same may not take place if core teams fail to meet on a regular basis. To ensure this happens, the Zonal Coordinators will work closely with the core team. Additionally, BST Cooperators are being appointed on a short term basis to assist you.
We trust that by the end of our 3 year’s term we should accomplish the tasks that God has placed on our hearts. Please feel free to make any suggestions that will help us in our mission. Above all, your prayer support is important. We ask Mary our mother to intercede for us as we all work together for the glory of God. God bless you. Amen. Dickson Mendes
